Jar Series
The first jar was the Monkey Jar. It was soon broken and existed only in photographs, giving rise to the idea to have objects exist as photographic images.
The jars express the idea of art as a form of preservation. Because they are filled with liquid, they function as lenses. This is mirrored in the notion of a camera "lensing", or capturing and preserving a moment. Some of the jars have living creatures in them to convey the transient existence of the actual object. By choosing to have them exist only as images, these pictures address the issue of object displacement --- the way we experience much of life indirectly, filtered through the media and printed images.
These are all 24 x 20", and 10 x 8" limited edition C-Prints.
